Catchee Uppee

Catchee Uppee time.

'Heartbeat' has enough funds for another two defib' units - fantastic!!

Finding locations for these - difficult!

Well, not so much the location but finding a space that is not on a listed building is proving testing. There is an ideal space in the Triangle on the solicitor's building next to W H Smiths. However, this is a listed building so may not be possible.

Another possible location is near The Ship Inn on the river beach - perhaps on the wall of the surf and boat premises. After two or three more in town then maybe the Richard Newton Hall? Then on to Dawlish and Shaldon.

We had planned to locate one outside the Carlton Theatre and had raised the funds ready. However, no-one from the theatre came back to us so we have had to ditch that idea. Shame - we thought it would have been an ideal place but, as it is now due for demolition it is not such a bad thing.

If you have any suggestions for locations please let us at 'Heartbeat' know about them, or if you would like to start raising money to buy your own defibrillator. Thank you.

Long time no see

Hello!

Apologies for not blogging for so long but I am back now.  The gap was mainly due to two things - a little health blip and also because I could then not get into the site to put a blog on!  I could read the blogs already on here but it wouldn't let me log in to write any new ones.  Frustrating!

There are lots of thanks due to lots of people.  To the two people who generously gave a cash donatation to 'Heartbeat'; to Patricia who made another bundle of lovely cards for us to sell; to Tina and Louise at Hobbycraft for being so very kind and helpful; to Tina in Teignmouth for her donation of goodies; to Mike who sorted out my computer for me, and to all the others who are supporting our charity - a big hug to you all.

It is thanks to generous and kind people like yourselves who have made it possible for 'Heartbeat' to do its work. X

Coffee Morning

Coffee Morning

Hello to all our wonderful supporters.

How would you like to hold a Coffee Morning for our charity?

Ask along as many people as you can and encourage them to donate something for their refreshments.  Maybe one or two helpers could donate a cake for your coffee morning.  All proceeds go to 'Heartbeat' to help raise funds to purchase another defib' unit.

We can provide leaflets, and a box of cards for sale so that your guests have something extra to interest them.  Or maybe someone could donate an item that can be raffled.

If you can help then that would be terrific!  Contact me to make arrangements.

Dare you - DOUBLE DARE YOU!

Will you be the first to add a comment to our blogsite?

Go on - dare you - double dare you!

Thank you to all those who have visited the site. It would be good to get some feedback though.  You can be as honest as you like!

I would like to jazz up the site a little but have no idea how to go about doing this.  If you are a whizz at IT and can give me a tutorial then I will gladly accept x

Vegetarian???

Vegetarian???

Well, I nearly turned back into a meat eater last week!

At the Great Elizabethan Bake Off at Luton there was a set meal.  I didn't want to make a fuss so went along with what was on the menu thinking I could give my meat to husband Mike.

Before doing that I tried one little mouthful of pork.  Delicious!!  Ended up eating the lot!  Having not eaten meat for many years I was surprised at myself.

It was all due to the wonderful food chef Nick produces.  Do go along and try the menu there - I can highly recommend the food!  It would be good to support them too after all the help Anne and Nick have given 'Heartbeat' and other charities.

I'm just off for a bacon sandwich. x

Our blogspot details are www.teignheartbeat.blogspot.co.uk

Well, I printed off some mini leaflets in a hurry - should have checked them more thoroughly.  Instead of 'blogspot' I had typed 'bogspot'

Oh dear - sorry!  I had already given out some before I realised.

£220.50 in the jar!

£220.50 in the jar!

‘The Great Elizabethan Bake Off’ last Friday was a huge success.

A warm and friendly atmosphere awaited us all at the Elizabethan with smiling hosts Anne and Nick welcoming everyone.

Diners enjoyed a really (really, really!) delicious two-course meal to start with.  Then tantalising and tempting platters of several yummy desserts were served.  Different people made all these and we had to score the results out of ten. Lots of chat went on about ones favourite and it was difficult to decide they were all so delicious.  I went for the melt-in-the-mouth cheesecake (ten out of ten) whilst Mike debated between the toffee apple crumble and custard and the lime tart.

A donations jar was left on the bar – when customers went to pay for their meal they were asked to give a donation to ‘Heartbeat’ for their desserts (that were free).

The amount raised was staggering and will be such a great help to the charity.  A BIG thank you to everyone who gave and an especially HUGE thank you to Anne and Nick for hosting the event.

We have enough in the kitty now to purchase another complete unit (defib’ and cabinet).

Well done Sam

Sam raised over £170 by playing his clarinet for 'Heartbeat' - an amazing amount.

During the first session, before Christmas, the heavens opened and the rain came down in buckets, but Sam carried on playing with an umbrella held over his head.

Shaldon residents were very generous and popped their coins into Sam's bucket and even a couple of £10 notes were donated.

So - thank you to Sam, Sam's family, and all those people who kindly donated. A Happy New Year to you all.
